Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy (OT) can help children who may have difficulties associated with their development. This may include areas such as physical, psychological, intellectual, social, sensory or learning.
The team at LinkSPOT have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent children and their families, including those who are Autistic, ADHD and/or have learning differences.
Our OTs work on developing everyday skills to assist with participation and independence in all areas of life, whether that be home, pre-school, school or within the community.
You may want to see one of our OTs for support with any of the following areas:
Fine motor skills including hand strength, finger dexterity, pre-writing, pencil control, pencil grasp and handwriting
Gross motor skills including coordination, balance, core strength and spatial planning
School readiness skills
Play or social development
Executive functioning including attention, motor planning, sequencing, memory, processing and other organisational skills
Independence skills including dressing, cutlery use, selfcare, sleeping and toileting
Routines - for home/school to support transitions, learning or engagement
Sensory processing - this refers to strategies to develop self regulation or co-regulation skills in response to sensory stimuli within the environment which may cause anxiety, distress or dysregulation
Emotional regulation - this is closely related to sensory processing and may involve working on understanding feelings and emotions within oneself and others, as well as strategies to support regulation and positive engagement
